Scar Night
It took me a week to finish this one. And I felt a little pressured since it’s on 7-day loan. I hate pressure.
This is Alan Campbell’s first book. I like the way his mind works. It’s a fascinating story, and he makes his characters seem very real… even the ones who aren’t human. Sure, there’s the random stereotype there and there, but what “end of the world as we know it” story doesn’t need a good megalomaniac? Campbell’s writing is a bit ponderous, which is only part of the reason it took so long to read. (It’s that time of year, you know, when everyone wants you to be somewhere other than your comfy place with a book.) I will be watching for his next book in this series.
